425 Broadway

Built in 1931 as the Lido Hotel this community was deemed a historical landmark in 2001 by the City of Santa Monica for its use of Art Deco Architecture and its storied past. Rumor has it that the Lido Hotel was once a popular hang-out for acting icons like Humphrey Bogart and Marilyn Monroe. The tour guides, who bring tourists by the community almost daily, tell us it may have also been a recording studio for Janis Joplin. Today, the spirit of the building's past lives on through it's carefully maintained architecture and its energetic, beach-centric location. Residents can take a short walk to shop at the high end Santa Monica Place Mall, or stroll down The Third Street Promenade to take in the sights and sounds of street performers, open air patios and bars as well as movie theaters and shopping. If the beach is more appealing, residents can walk three blocks to the ocean to surf, sunbathe, hike or jog in sunshine and ocean air
